Divit is made by one person. I read every message, and I usually reply within a few days. If you are reporting a bug, the details listed at the bottom of this page will get it fixed a lot faster.

Trial, purchase, and unlocking

How does the trial work?

The whole app is free for 14 days. Nothing is held back and there is no feature you cannot try. After that, a single one-time purchase unlocks Divit permanently. It is not a subscription, and there is no recurring charge.

What happens when the trial ends?

Divit becomes read-only. You never lose access to what you have written. Every capture, action, project and note stays exactly where it is and stays readable. What stops is adding and changing things, until you unlock the app.

It says “read-only” but I already paid

Look at the wording in the banner, because the two cases are different:

“Read-only — your trial has ended” means Divit checked with the App Store and found no purchase on the Apple Account currently signed in. If you bought Divit on a different Apple Account, sign in with that one.
“Read-only until Divit can check your purchase” means Divit could not reach the App Store at all — usually no internet. This is not an accusation that you did not buy it. Connect to a network and tap Restore.

How do I restore a purchase on a new device?

Sign in with the Apple Account you bought Divit on, then go to Settings → Unlock Divit → Restore Purchases. You may be asked to authenticate. Restoring is free and works on every device on that account.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled entirely by Apple, not by me — I cannot issue one and I never see your payment details. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Divit was not what you expected, I would genuinely like to know why; that feedback is more useful to me than the sale.

AI suggestions

Do I need AI to use Divit?

No. Divit is a complete GTD system without it. AI only speeds up the clarifying step by proposing what a capture means; you can do that yourself, and plenty of people prefer to.

How do I turn AI on?

You supply your own OpenAI API key, from platform.openai.com. Add it under Settings → AI & Privacy. Divit will then ask, once, whether you want captures sent to OpenAI, and nothing is sent until you agree.

Why do I have to bring my own key?

Because there is no Divit server. Requests go from your device straight to OpenAI under your own account, so I never see your captures and never see your key. It also means the AI is not behind the paywall and costs you only what OpenAI charges you — typically a very small amount for this kind of use.

What exactly gets sent?

The text of the capture, today’s date, and the names and internal identifiers of up to 15 of your projects and up to 15 of your contexts — so the AI can match a capture to something you already have instead of inventing a new one. Nothing else. The privacy policy sets this out in full.

How do I turn it off again?

Settings → AI & Privacy → AI suggestions. Interpretation stops immediately. Your key stays saved unless you remove it as well.

AI suggestions are not appearing

Check three things: that a key is saved, that you granted permission when asked, and that you are online. Divit also only shows a suggestion when it is reasonably confident — a vague capture will deliberately stay in your inbox rather than be guessed at.

Your data

Where is my data kept?

On your device, in the app’s private storage. There is no Divit account and no Divit server. See the privacy policy for the full picture.

Is it backed up?

Yes — Divit’s data is included in your normal iCloud or computer backup, which is how it survives replacing a phone. Whether that backup is encrypted is controlled by your own Apple and device settings.

Does Divit sync between my iPhone and iPad?

Not yet. Each device keeps its own separate system today. Sync is the most substantial thing on the roadmap, and when it arrives it will run through your own iCloud — there will still be no Divit server.

Can I export my data?

Not currently. This is a real gap and it is on the list. If it matters to you, say so in an email — that genuinely affects what I build next.

How Divit works

Divit follows GTD strictly, and a few of those rules surprise people who arrive expecting an ordinary to-do app. They are deliberate.

Why won’t a capture go straight onto my calendar?

The calendar is reserved for genuine commitments at a fixed date and time. Divit will never place something there on its own, and it will not let a vague item drift onto it. To schedule something, confirm the date and time yourself in the clarify screen. A calendar you can trust completely is worth more than one that is merely full.

Why doesn’t my Someday item show up in Today?

Because that is what Someday/Maybe means. Items you have parked stay out of Today and Next Actions entirely until you consciously move them back. If everything showed up everywhere, the lists would stop meaning anything.

Why did the AI not file something for me?

It never will. The AI proposes; you decide. Nothing moves between lists, gets scheduled, or changes shape without you confirming it. That boundary is the reason the system stays trustworthy, and it is not something I intend to relax.

Can I rename a context?

Yes. Open Settings → Contexts and tap the one you want to change. Renaming updates it everywhere, and actions already using it keep their link.

Troubleshooting

The app is behaving oddly or will not open

Force-quit and reopen first. If that does not help, check for an App Store update, since it may already be fixed. Do not delete the app to troubleshoot — your tasks live on the device and deleting it removes them.

Something disappeared

Check Someday/Maybe and your completed items before assuming it is gone; strict GTD moves things out of Today by design. If it really has vanished, email me with roughly when you created it and what it said, and I will help you work out what happened.

Reporting a bug

Include as much of this as you can — it is usually the difference between a fix this week and a fix eventually:

What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
Your device and iOS version (Settings → General → About)
The Divit version (Settings → About Divit)
Whether it happens every time or just once
A screenshot, if there is something to see

Please do not include anything private in a screenshot — your task content is yours, and I do not need it to fix a layout bug.

Feature requests

Very welcome. Divit is opinionated and I will sometimes say no — particularly to anything that would let the app move your things without asking — but I will always tell you why rather than ignoring it. Sync, export and import from other GTD apps are the requests I hear about most.
